Angela has experienced that no two people are alike and yet we each need the same thing: to have a safe and secure connection with another person.  Often it is within us that healing has to occur first before that connection can happen with another person.   Angela focuses on that individual healing process to achieve emotional and psychological health, which results in transformed behaviors and relationships.  Her style is both warm and engaging, as well as challenging and direct.   Angela attunes to her clients’ needs and provides empathy while addressing difficult situations.   Through the use of evidenced based therapeutic treatment strategies, such as Psychodynamic, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Prepare/Enrich for couples counseling; Angela can help her clients meet their goals.

Angela addresses the following adult clinical counseling issues:     anxiety, depression, developmental trauma and attachment trauma, complex PTSD, relational stress, domestic violence, life adjustments, grief, codependency/addiction recovery, narcissistic abuse and gaslighting, as well as premarital and couples counseling.

Angela is a graduate of Roosevelt University in the Clinical Professional Psychology program, having received her Master of Arts degree.  While she was in graduate school, she volunteered in case management for a postpartum care nonprofit and a community mental health center.  Angela later interned at a local community mental health center and, upon graduation, became an employee for them while earning her clinical counseling licensure.   She was part of a team of clinicians who provided individual and group counseling to those with chronic mental health problems.   This experience helps her assess if other services or a higher level of care is recommended for a client.  Angela also has prior work experience in private and corporate finance and human resources departments, which can be valuable in relating further with her clients’ stressors.

Today, Angela continues to educate herself, striving to always connect with her clients’ needs.   Angela is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois, practicing psychotherapy either in-person or via telehealth for Illinois residents and via telehealth for Florida residents.  Angela is a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP-l), National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator.   She plays an active role as a member of the Illinois Counselors Association (ICA) and is an adjunct professor for graduate psychology courses at a local private university.   She is an involved mother of two older children, and for enjoyment she travels, practices yoga, takes her dog for walks, facilitates group Bible studies and attends festivals and museums with friends.   While she was raised in the Midwest, Angela comes from a multicultural background, including Jewish, Asian Indian and West African families.

Angela accepts private pay as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield,  Aetna, and Optum/UHS PPO insurances.   To schedule an in-person or telehealth appointment, Angela can be reached at either phone or email.
