Sara Kresser, M.S.W., LCSW

Sara earned a Master of Social Work degree from Jane Addams School of Social Work, University of Illinois at Chicago in 1979. She specialized in the field of substance abuse for 13 years, developing and managing both outpatient and inpatient services for community mental health agencies. Sara has provided on-site counseling to employees in the Employee Assistance Program for a major corporation for the past 20 years and has maintained a private practice since 1981.

Sara provides both short-term and long-term therapy and works with clients to resolve issues resulting from depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, relationship issues, separation and divorce, grief and loss, life transitions, parenting, addictive disorders, women's issues, aging, stress management, career and workplace issues. She has a very respectful and nonjudgmental style and works collaboratively with clients to assist them in clarifying and reaching their goals. Her practice consists of adults throughout the life cycle, beginning with later adolescence navigating adulthood through seniors adapting to the numerous changes of aging.

Sara has been actively engaged in the mental health field for the past 37 years and has extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families. Although Sara uses different therapeutic strategies, she primarily uses Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Sara is a provider in the majority of insurance plans, including Medicare.
